The Samling is a striking gabled Georgian home, surrounded by a cluster of old Lakeland stone buildings, many still with their characterful original features. The interiors of The Samling reflect the lakeside location, with soothing dove greys, blues and greens of nature. Hypnos mattresses and deep filled pillows ensure you will enjoy a good night’s sleep, waking refreshed and ready to explore our hospitality, The Samling has 12 bedrooms, suites and cottages, each named after a Lake District location and individually designed.
Three jewel like rooms, one in the main house, one with a lake view, and one with easy access and a woodland view.
One of our most compelling rooms, Frozen Fell is located at the rear of the house overlooking the rolling gardens and private National Trust woodland. Decorated in warm stone hues with bursts of lichen yellow with silver accents and an emperor size bed, Frozen Fell is an indulgent choice for a relaxing stay.
Located just a short distance from the main house, Derwent Water enjoys a soothing palette of soft pinks and creams and super-king bed which ensures a restful and tranquil atmosphere. The large and spacious bathroom is finished in Crema Marfil marble and benefits from a generous walk in shower and separate sunken bath, with a double vanity unit. This room is suitable for guests with limited mobility.
Three large L-shaped bedrooms located on the first floor of the main house, each offering its own stunning views out over Lake Windermere and the front gardens, each being decorated with its own style. All three rooms have beautiful bathrooms with baths and sinks set into Carrara marble surrounds with separate walk-in showers.
Coniston is the largest room in the main house and Loweswater is one of the country cottages.
Nestles in the eaves of the main house, stretching from front to back of the building with both lake and woodland views. The sitting room at the front faces out over Windermere, skylight windows create a light filled room with the extra advantage of rooftop views over the lake towards Coniston Old Man. Its architecture is enhanced by creams and rich forest greens – as is the equally spacious bedroom with emperor size bed, overlooking the National trust woodland behind us. The ensuite bathroom provides a large marble dressed bath and separate walk-in shower.
Has the cosy feel of a traditional lakes cottage; set over two floors with the sitting room on the ground floor enjoying dual aspect views from the garden and woodland behind us to south over the lake. The bedroom and ensuite bathroom are upstairs, with a super king size bed well placed to enjoy the views out of the long low window. Watery tones of silver and sage greens enhance the feeling of serenity, whilst the Crema Marfil marble clad bathroom provides luxurious bathing.
Four luxurious suites set around the grounds, a short distance from the main house. Each has its own individual style, often making the choice between them all the more difficult.
Blea Tarn is a cottage located close to the main house with stunning views of Lake Windermere and Samling gardens. The sitting room has large windows and is decorated in lavender blues, inspired by the view of the lake. A private patio enhances the unique feeling of this cottage. The inspiration of the lake continues into the bedroom which is furnished in slate blue. A very popular room, it benefits from an emperor size bed and doors to the private patio. The sense of space continues into the large Carrara marble bathroom with its stunning roll top cast iron bath. The bathroom also enjoys a spacious walk in shower and double vanity unit.
Blea Tarn can be booked as a suite or as an interconnecting room with the Suite/ Classic Double Buttermere.
A split-level barn style suite; the bathroom is on the ground floor, clad in Carrara marble with a large bath and separate walk-in shower. A few steps up is the sitting room, enjoying expansive lake views south over Windermere, and soothingly decorated in soft stone neutrals with accents of dove pink. The top level, tucked under the eaves, houses the bedroom with its super-king sized bed.
