The Gardens, Grounds and Artwork
The Samling’s grounds are dotted by well-chosen contemporary works of art. Whether it’s an intricate iron work by William Pym, a wooden man by Walter Bailey or a spire of slate and glass by Charles Bray, we hope you’ll find that these artworks complement the mood of each part of the garden and grounds.
Metal Sculpture
Located outside the Dutch Barn, William Pym’s contemporary sculpture, ‘Gather’, evokes the mystery of the blacksmith’s art while the clasped hands suggest the eternity of friendship and loyalty.
Lawn Sculpture
Located in front of the main house at The Samling, Charles Bray’s slate and glass spire acts almost like a giant sundial, projecting the lengthening shadows over the lawn and reflecting the light against the jaw-dropping background of Lake Windermere and the mountains beyond.
